Incentives:  Several incentives are available through the year of 2012 for help to offset the startup costs of wind electricity generation, such as tax incentives (Federal & State), grants, net-metering, and green partnership allowances.  Utilities are required by law to connect with & purchase power from small (less than 80 MW) wind energy systems.  By the way, it's great to watch your electric meter spin backwards instead of forward because that means you will get paid, in contrast to you paying your utility supplier.  These credits are gained from any electricity produced that your home doesn't use.  Financing for your wind turbine project is available, also.
Endurance:  A wind turbine is easily retrofitted to basically any house w/o changing any of the home's wiring.  Wind Turbines are designed to last 20 years and are basically maintenance free for at least 5 years.  You will need between 7-10 mph wind speed in order for the blades to spin; however you will have power from your supplier as normal even though when the wind is not making the turbine generate electricity all the time.
Noise:  Typical residential wind turbines make less noise than the average washing machine and does not provide TV reception interference.
Falling Tower:  Thousands of wind turbines are installed in the USA and their safety track record has been reported as excellent.
Environment:  During it's lifetime of electricity generation, a small residential wind turbine can prevent approximately 1.2 tons of air pollution and 200 tons of greenhouse gas pollution.  What a trade-off!
Costs:  A small wind turbine can cost anywhere from $6,000 to $22,000
installed.

Wind Turbines

When choosing a wind turbine as your source of renewable energy, you have several options:

    1.  Purchase the wind turbine and install it yourself or hire a contractor to install it
         2.  Purchase the entire package of wind turbine and complete installation
         3.  Purchase wind turbine plans and build your own wind turbine (DIY)

Purchase your own wind turbine to install or hire it done:
