Solar Power
Solar Photovoltaics
The Greek term "Photovoltaics" has evolved into a two fold meaning, such as "light" and "voltaic" (another word for "electric"). The word "voltaic" was after an Italian physicist with the name of Volta.
Solar power from photovoltaics is generated electricity from sunlight. This generated solar power eliminates the need to buy electricity. Furthermore, this electricity that is produced by using solar photovoltaics at home can be feed back into the "grid" by when the home does not use all of the electricity produced. Then, utilities are required by law to purchase this electricity from the homeowner usually in the form of credits.
Benefits of Solar Power produced by Photovoltaic Panels
Incentives: Consumers are allowed an income tax credit equal to 30% of the cost of a solar power installation. The tax credits are dollar for dollar and not just a tax deduction which further benefits the home owner. State tax reduction is available with some states also along with a 5 year accelerated depreciation. Sale of excess, called net metering is when your utility supplier will actually purchase your unused electricity back from you.
